eKichabi Sessions
Team members: Ewin Tang, Maureen Daum, Matt Ziegler
This chart shows the common execution paths that users of the mobile-phone business directory eKichabi navigate when searching for businesses.
Try the program (in Swahili; press "Call") for more context for the visualization. See the
research paper (
pdf) for more details.
- Click boxes to zoom in (left column to zoom out) and hover over boxes for tooltips.
- Blue boxes represent businesses: user sessions that end in a business are considered successful uses of eKichabi.
- Light gray boxes represent incomplete sessions, which are sessions that were aborted after a particular input sequence. (We don't include the 15,000 user sessions that never go past the home screen.)
Some questions: How does a typical user use the program? What differences in user experience are there between the first-level choices (the differently-colored options)? Why is Aisha Shop such a popular business?
